Under the Tuscan Sun- A feeling!

I saw ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’ and by far its one of the most beautiful visual movies I have ever seen. Magical Italian landscapes, bedsheets of flowers sprawled across distances, old buildings, churches, castles; the sights straight from some fairy tale. Roads and lanes and windings on which you would want to ride a Vespa, meadows on which you would want to see your soulmate, your prince come riding along and you waiting to be swept off your feet.

The villa ‘Barmasole’ which Frances buys pretty much intuitively after she is led to it by destiny is no less than an important character which changes and shapes her life; for its the villa that brings her to meet other people and that saves her from sinking into loneliness. The transformation of the almost dilapidated, infested with insects and creeper-ed villa into the prettiest, raw but elegant of all Italian villas runs parallel to Frances’ transformation from a depressed, broken divorcee into an hopeful and happy woman.

The movies mets out some gems of messages like when Frances’ has a breakup with her Italian lover, with whom she had hoped of restarting her love life with and then when she sees young love, young lovers striving hard to be together she picks up the broken pieces of her heart and instead helps in stitching a new love story.
When she helps her flamboyant friend Katherine to get into bed after a drunk night Katherine tells her how one should never lose their childish innocence and how thats the only thing that makes one go on in life.
And when Martini reminds a sad and a lonely Frances that her wishes had been fulfilled- one that she wished to have a wedding in her villa and by striving to get the two lovers married she had achieved that and the second wish to have a family in that villa gets fulfilled via Patti, Frances’ best friend who comes to stay with her and Patti has a baby. Martini makes Frances realize that you can find your own happiness by helping fulfilling their wishes, their happiness. Such simple messages ‘there is hope towards the end of the dark tunnel’ flow throughout the movie through a fresh perspective.

When you, being a writer yourself sees another writer doing something so drastic like buying a house on a whim that too in between nowhere, not following your plan nor having any plans at all and instead choosing to listen to that little voice inside your head; something stirs and jumps inside you. I began to wonder will I do that. Of course I will! Will I be able to do that? Not sure. But yes I do want to do that once in my life. Writing from a house standing upon a picturesque location without being disturbed by the crazy city or phones or internet is what every other writer dreams of. But only a few actually accomplish this dream.

What I realized is that a few dreams turn true when you decide and work hard to make them come true. But there are some dreams, some wishes that you needn’t work upon at all. They come true if and when they are destined to come true! You might be a good writer but God is a greater writer and is writing the best possible story for you. All we need to do is to take a leap of faith and leave the rest to God :)

Very good review. Yes, it does capture the essence of the movie. I am glad you liked it as much as I did, and it has inspired you too.....I approached my apt in meadows with the same sort of wondrous feel for nature and adventure to make it a happy place for my family and friends....A tiny attempt to fulfill my dream in the heart of civilization and beauty of nature......now you go ahead and seek yours !!! Love Life and Enjoy,

The Old

O of #AtoZChallenge At night, when the world would be making it's bed, waiting to drop down, my Aaji would put on her transistor in her bedroom and listen to old Hindi songs on radio. Suddenly, everything would go quiet. A warm, fuzzy feeling would envelope our house. A smile would appear on our faces, the worried wrinkles on the foreheads would disappear and we would find ourselves going down the Old World Lane!  Ah! The eternal- Old World Charm! Even today when I hear any old Hindi song, my imagination turns into  black and white and I get transported right into the song!  If I have to revisit an era, I would travel to the 'black and white Mumbai' era. When the streets looked squeaky clean, the Victorian buildings at VT, Churchgate basked in it's full glory, Marine Drive and the Arabian Sea looked it's cleanest. During my time-travel, I can feel the warm wind blowing, making my tresses dance. I imagine life to be simpler with lesser choices, less...

Simple pleasurers of life

I was just sitting at the window having a cup of hot coffee, when a thought just brushed my mind…I just closed my eyes and visualized that I was siting at the window but not of my apartment but of a tiny shack built atop a hill amongst the farms and I had the green covered mountain and clouds kissing it and moving ahead for my company….it had just rained and the the mountain looked as if it was draped in a greeny robe… the wind sprayed the rain droplets on my face and left tiny diamond like drops in my hair… when I opened my eyes I felt rejuvenated…for those few seconds I was transferred to a peaceful place of my dreams….. This kind of day dreaming really helped me…i mean in our busy lives we get so much carried away by our work and get engulfed in the daily routine that we totally forget what we like..what we enjoy doing the most…we forget the simple pleasures of life… Forget what the world says…ignore if somebody laughs…just listen to your heart and take a trip down the memory lane…...

Hugging the Himalayas

*Crump*  *Crip* *Kudum*  The leaves and the twigs broke under my shoes. I was panting and puffing and sweating. Ashu dada called out, “We are almost there!”  I put my head down and kept climbing until there was no more to climb.   “Guys, you got to see this!”  I raised my head and lost my breath.  We were standing atop a hill overlooking the the magnificent snow mountains. The Dhauladhar range covered in white swept across our eyes. The sky was a true ‘sky blue’ and the sun shone on the tallest of the peaks.  I was in heaven!  And to prove that the cities lay on the other side cramped up like little ants.  At Triund  and Photograph by me :)  Once I had gotten my bag in my yellow tent I sat outside and lay on my back  watching the soft fluffy white clouds breeze by, taking in every bit of the snow wonder. The snow mountains looked no less than a bowl of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with choco chips...

FAiRYTALE

Just heard the song "LOVE STORY" by taylor swift....the lyrics go this way.... " Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone, I’ll be waiting, all there’s left to do is run You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess... It’s a love story, baby, just say yes I got tired of waiting Wondering if you were ever coming around My faith in you was fading When I met you on the outskirts of town And I said Romeo save me, I’ve been feeling so alone, I keep waiting, for you but you never come, Is this in my head, I don’t know what to think He kneels to the ground and pulled out a ring and said Marry me Juliet, you’ll never have to be alone, I love you, and that’s all I really know, I talked to your dad-you’ll pick the white dress, It’s a love story, baby just say…yes…" and it took me to the "once upon a time" tales of the prince and the princess...their love for each other and the struggle they had to undertake to be together in the...
