IV Recalled- The Shimla episode

After a lot of jumping and fighting and dancing around for in the name of the third year industrial visit(i.v) we did go on one! To the never touched areas by the students of VES we the 2009-2010 batch went to Chandigarh- Shimla!

As we got off the Ambala station and got into the seats( i specially got into the right three seaters so that i could get a view of the green mystic river on the way! And would get the first glimpse of the snow mountains.) I was happy to go to Himachal to what i consider my second nature home! I was in a dancing and a bubbly mood that i would see the snow claded Himalayas after a long city life.
During the four hour journey i slept through most of it. People puked. I slept. People sang. I slept. SOmewhere happy to know that i would get to see a better sight when i opened my eyes.

Kalka went by. No river. Ahead we climbed on the windings. No river. 3 idiots had surely fooled me. No green big river on the way. Although this was my fourth visit to himachal i was taking the Chandigarh-Shimla route for the first time. How i missed and cursed the management for not allowing us to Manali(my actual home).

As we reached the hotel it was pitch dark. Our opposite rooms had the best view. Small lil lights tinkling on the mountain... As if the sky had put on kandils. And there was my star studded sky too. I imagined the snow covered mountains to tower the town and the city that tinkled.
The next morning totally excited i got up from the bed. Warm and cosy i pushed the soft razai off me and climbed on to the sofa below the window. And there i was smiling broadly! What i saw was the same tinkling houses of last night not looking beautiful this time but cluttered and jammed onto the adjacent three to four hills looking all ugly. The only hill with some leftover pine tress stared blankly at me. My smile almost disappeared. No snow cladded mountains. Not even the sight of snow peaks or some left over snow. Only congested town is all i could see from the hotel room.

My excitement landed with a big thudd! But i learnt a thing. Not all Himachal is snow. And maybe Shimla had a beauty in it's colds climate and rains. And yes Himachal didnt disappoint me at the end. We did enjoy the fog and the rain that screwed our mall road trip. But the shopping hardly mattered. What bothered us that we missed the photo sessions on the famous spots- the Jab we met and the 3 Idiots in Shimla.

But as i say if you have a camera nothing can screw you. We made the most of the fog and the view and the camera and modeled a lot for it! Bloody posers is what we all were called!

The Old

O of #AtoZChallenge At night, when the world would be making it's bed, waiting to drop down, my Aaji would put on her transistor in her bedroom and listen to old Hindi songs on radio. Suddenly, everything would go quiet. A warm, fuzzy feeling would envelope our house. A smile would appear on our faces, the worried wrinkles on the foreheads would disappear and we would find ourselves going down the Old World Lane!  Ah! The eternal- Old World Charm! Even today when I hear any old Hindi song, my imagination turns into  black and white and I get transported right into the song!  If I have to revisit an era, I would travel to the 'black and white Mumbai' era. When the streets looked squeaky clean, the Victorian buildings at VT, Churchgate basked in it's full glory, Marine Drive and the Arabian Sea looked it's cleanest. During my time-travel, I can feel the warm wind blowing, making my tresses dance. I imagine life to be simpler with lesser choices, less...

Simple pleasurers of life

I was just sitting at the window having a cup of hot coffee, when a thought just brushed my mind…I just closed my eyes and visualized that I was siting at the window but not of my apartment but of a tiny shack built atop a hill amongst the farms and I had the green covered mountain and clouds kissing it and moving ahead for my company….it had just rained and the the mountain looked as if it was draped in a greeny robe… the wind sprayed the rain droplets on my face and left tiny diamond like drops in my hair… when I opened my eyes I felt rejuvenated…for those few seconds I was transferred to a peaceful place of my dreams….. This kind of day dreaming really helped me…i mean in our busy lives we get so much carried away by our work and get engulfed in the daily routine that we totally forget what we like..what we enjoy doing the most…we forget the simple pleasures of life… Forget what the world says…ignore if somebody laughs…just listen to your heart and take a trip down the memory lane…...

FAiRYTALE

Just heard the song "LOVE STORY" by taylor swift....the lyrics go this way.... " Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone, I’ll be waiting, all there’s left to do is run You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess... It’s a love story, baby, just say yes I got tired of waiting Wondering if you were ever coming around My faith in you was fading When I met you on the outskirts of town And I said Romeo save me, I’ve been feeling so alone, I keep waiting, for you but you never come, Is this in my head, I don’t know what to think He kneels to the ground and pulled out a ring and said Marry me Juliet, you’ll never have to be alone, I love you, and that’s all I really know, I talked to your dad-you’ll pick the white dress, It’s a love story, baby just say…yes…" and it took me to the "once upon a time" tales of the prince and the princess...their love for each other and the struggle they had to undertake to be together in the...

Hugging the Himalayas

*Crump*  *Crip* *Kudum*  The leaves and the twigs broke under my shoes. I was panting and puffing and sweating. Ashu dada called out, “We are almost there!”  I put my head down and kept climbing until there was no more to climb.   “Guys, you got to see this!”  I raised my head and lost my breath.  We were standing atop a hill overlooking the the magnificent snow mountains. The Dhauladhar range covered in white swept across our eyes. The sky was a true ‘sky blue’ and the sun shone on the tallest of the peaks.  I was in heaven!  And to prove that the cities lay on the other side cramped up like little ants.  At Triund  and Photograph by me :)  Once I had gotten my bag in my yellow tent I sat outside and lay on my back  watching the soft fluffy white clouds breeze by, taking in every bit of the snow wonder. The snow mountains looked no less than a bowl of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with choco chips...
