Ganpati's Aaji-Aajoba, Parvati's parents, are Earthlings.
Every year Ganpati visits Earth twice and lives as a fellow Earthling.
Aaji Aajoba make sure to invite all their relatives and friends over to the house to meet Ganpati.
Then all the family friends sing and dance around Ganpati and entertain him thoroughly.
Just because they know how foodie Ganpati is, Aaji-Aajoba lovingly make 'special Ganpati meals': modaks, shrikhand, different sorts of bhaajis and pulavs every single day!
Every year Ganpati goes back to his parents chubbier and fluffier.
This year while Ganpati and Parvati were underwater and were on the way back home, Parvati playfully cupped and squeezed his chubby cheeks and chuckled, "Your fitness freak Baba is going to freak out more than ever!"
Mushak giggled, "Kheeekikheekii.."
Parvati looked at him crossly, "You too are looking fluffier than usual!"
Mushak grinned widely, "Ganpati would share his extra food with me every time. How could I say no to 'your parents'?"
Parvati knew her kids had hit her soft spot.
Ganpati made a puppy face, "Aye Aai, please Baba la kasatari manage kar na..."
Parvati rolled her eyes and sighed, "Hmmm... Baghte!"
As Parvati, Ganpati and Mushak were nearing the entrance of Kailash Parvat, Parvati clicked her fingers.
Ganpati and Mushak found themselves covered in oversized hoodies.
Parvati quipped, "Tell him these are gifts from your cousins! Do not remove these jackets until you are in your rooms!"
Ganpati and Mushak nodded their heads obediently.
The clouds cleared. They could see Shankar waiting at the entrance, smiling.
Ganpati and Mushak looked at each other and gulped.
Shankar walked ahead stretching out his arms.
Ganpati ran and hugged his Baba tightly, "Majha Baaaabaaaaaaa. I missed you!'
Shankar lifted him up and twirled him around, "I missed you too Ganpati."
Shankar kept Ganpati down. He laid out his palm for Mushak.
Mushak obediently climbed on Shankar's palm and ran all over his long hand and his broad shoulders.
Shankar exclaimed, "I see you boys have got yourselves some fancy Earthling jackets!"
Ganpati and Mushak glee-ed and looked at each other with relief.
Shankar then hugged Parvati and kissed Parvati on her forehead, 'I missed you too!'
Parvati blushed, 'Tumcha mhanje kahitarich!'
Shankar laughed, "Aga kharach! Every time you three go off to see Aai-Baba back on Earth, it gets awfully silent here! I can't work!"
Ganpati laughed, hugging Shankar's waist, "Hahaha Baba... Kahipan! Other times, you can't work because you can't take our dhaangad-dhinga!"
Parvati laughed.
Shankar put his arms around his wife and son and took them home to the dining room.
"I know you guys would be famished. I have cooked up a lovely dinner!"
The dining table was set with dishes neatly arranged and hot pots waiting to be uncovered.
Parvati looked impressed.
Ganpati, Mushak excitedly climbed on the chairs to get a closer look.
As Shankar uncovered the lids over the pots Ganpati and Mushak's smiles disappeared.
Shankar proudly announced, "Cabbage soup and steamed doodhi rolls as starters, Hrushi-Panchami bhaaji with multi-grain chapatis, five-grain dal and raw salad and ginger-lemon sherbat for digestion!"
Ganpati stuck his tongue out, "Urrghhh... Baaabbaaaaa.... aalya aalya kay re punishment!"
Shankar laughed, "Hahaha... How long do you think you would hide your flabs under those hoodies?"
Shankar looked at Parvati and winked, 'Nice try Pau!'
Parvati look caught, "So what! The kids get to meet my parents just for a few days and you think my parents won't pamper them? Thodasa weight upar-neeche is allowed na!"
Shankar was taken aback, "Thodasa???"
Ganpati was tucking on Shankar's pyjamas trying to get his attention, "Baba.. aik na! Babaa.."
Shankar looked down impatiently, "Kay re?"
Ganpati was holding out a steal tiffin box, "Even I have got something for you!"
Parvati was surprised too.
She had definitely not seen this Earthling dabba travel with them in her bag.
Ganpati opened the lid slowly and held it out for his parents to see.
Mushak hid behind Ganpati, too scared of Shankar's reaction.
He knew what was in there.
Shankar and Parvati peeped inside the tiffin box.
Parvati suppressed her laughter.
Shankar looked confused.
Ganpati grinning ear to ear under his trunk said, "Arey Baba, I got this especially ordered for you...
...Multigrain Vada-Pav!"
Parvati couldn't hold it back anymore and burst out laughing.
Shankar was speechless.
Ganpati winked with twinkle in his eyes :)
